What is Portrait Johnny?

Portrait Johnny is the website created to represent the cumulative portrait works of John T. Erwin. It’s development will soon include a comprehensive Gallery and Blog Posts- keeping an on-line daily journal of the rendered visions inspired by the people I meet. It is also intended to serve as a client contact, scheduler and general operations home.

What makes me different than other portrait artists? Truthful representation of subject matter through efficient mastery of line. My fine art portrait renderings are not intended to produce a photo-mimetic representation (although photographic restorative drawing is a service I offer); Rather, I prefer to capture the personality that the cumulative facial expressions represent during the course of a conversation. I enjoy capturing people as they truly are instead of how they might choose to represent themselves in a micro-moment captured by a camera (“say cheese”). I consider that my art must be, first and foremost, honest. Therefore, I consider it my responsibility to bring out the best in people as I draw them.
